Davidson Places 26 on Fall Academic All-SoCon Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its Academic All-Conference team for the 2010 fall season Monday, which included 26 Davidson student-athletes.

A total of 345 student-athletes, representing all 12 Southern Conference institutions, were named to the team. The 345 student-athletes, which participated in football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's cross country recorded a 3.56 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Of the Davidson student-athletes, Allison Drutchas, a philosophy major on the women's soccer team from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., posted the top GPA of 3.99. The Wildcat men's and women's soccer teams each had seven members named to the team.

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

The women's soccer programs supplied the greatest number of honorees with 85, followed by football and women's cross country which each had 65 players qualify.
