Bulldog Tracksters Complete First Event of 2011

RESULTS

NASHVILLE
- The Alabama A&M men’s and women's track & field team kickoff their 2011 indoor season when they participated in the 2011 Ed Temple Classic in Nashville.

The competition featured 11 other collegiate teams and several track clubs on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track.

In the women’s 200 meter dash finals Keitha Johnson and Brittany Scott finished 23rd and 24th respectively. Johnson also finished with a 1:02.23 time while Raven Dove posted 1:04.12 time in the 400 meter dash.

Taukania Carstarphen completed the 800 meter run in sixth place with a time of 2:30.14.

Shaquina Phalo continued her exceptional season coming in eighth in the women’s one mile run.

In the women’s long jump Brittney Beasley finished 19th, while Lacee Scott placed 16th in the triple jump.

In the women’s shot put Domonique McCord was the top Bulldog finishing 14th throwing a distance of 10.28 meters. Quenecia Bentley placed 23rd with a 6.75 distance. Bentley also placed 20th in the women’s weight throw.  

On the men’s side Jabari Sims was 22nd in the men’s 200 meter dash while Mike Brown came in at 34th.

Dexter Sanford placed ninth with a time of 51.94 in the 400 meter dash. Justin Holley finished 25th in the same event with a time of 55.39.

D’Mitri Lewis and Marcus Hart placed in the 800 meter run 14th and 16 respectively.

Nathan Stephens and Nehemia Webb placed in the 55 meter hurdles 5th and 7th.  Stephens also finished tied for sixth in the men’s high jump.

The men’s long jump featured Sanford, who finished 13th, Kwesi Toney, who finished 16th and Galvin Burks who finished 21st.

Kenneth Gunn topped out at seventh while Sanford placed ninth in the triple jump event.

Joaquennsi Eugene and Stephens rounded out the top 10 in the finals of the men’s shot put.

The Bulldog track team will be off until January 29th when they will participate in the Tennessee State University Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 8 am.
