Jan. 25, 2011-- North Central College's Sheila Walsh has been honored as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at last weekend's Cardinal Opener.

The senior was the top finishing collegian in the 400-meter dash at Friday's season opening meet at the Al B. Carius Track, hitting the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard in the event with a time of 58.47. Her time was a personal best and is the fourth fastest indoor 400-meter time in program history. Walsh additionally placed third in the 200-meter dash (26.74) before closing out the meet by running a 58.7 split in the 4x400-meter relay, helping the Cardinals race to a fourth place finish.

North Central finished second in the team standings at Friday's Cardinal Opener, scoring 131 points, placing behind oy the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, hosting the NCC Quadrangular with events slated to get underway at 5 p.m.
