CCIW Release

Feb. 1, 2011--North Central College women's track & field athlete Michelle Criscione has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at Friday's NCC Quadrangular.

Criscione claimed a victory in the high jump on Friday at the meet held on the Al B. Carius Track, clearing a provisional qualifying height of 5 feet 5 1/4 inches, besting a field of 14 competitors. Her mark is currently the ninth best clearance in NCAA Division III.

Criscione is the second North Central athlete to be honored by the conference this season. Sheila Walsh was named the CCIW Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 25.

The 12th-ranked Cardinals blew away the competition at the meet, winning nine of 15 events and accumulating 246.5 points, outdistancing runner-up and 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by a 99.5-point margin.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, sending a small squad to Bloomington, Ill. for the IWU Pentathlon while the remainder of the team will compete on Saturday at the Warhawk Classic in Whitewater, Wis.
