Complete USTFCCCA Rankings

Feb. 3, 2011--The North Central College men's track & field squad maintained its position as the top ranked team in NCAA Division III in the second installment of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Team Computer Rankings, released Wednesday.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals accumulated 258.27 points in the week two rankings to remain No. 1 while University of Wisconsin-La Crosse jumps up four spots to No. 2 with 117.77 points. 2010 NCAA Division III cross country national champions, Haverford College (Mass.) climbs one spot to No. 3 with 108.81 points while the State University of New York-Geneseo rises up eight spots to No. 4 with 99.04 points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh rounds out the top five, slumping three spots in the rankings with 83.66 points.

College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Augustana College jumped seven spots to 14th with 45.03 points while Illinois Wesleyan University makes its top 25 debut at No. 19, accumulating 32.34 points.

North Central continued its early season domination at last Friday's NCC Quadrangular, scoring 299 points at the meet. Ninth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater was a distant second with 179 points.

North Central returns to action on Friday, Feb. 4, sending a majority of the team to Whitewater, Wis. for the Squig Converse Invitational while select individuals will attend the IWU Pentathlon in Bloomington, Ill.
