JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Kicking off day one in Johnson City, Tenn., the men’s track and field team saw another school record broken and new personal ones set at the Niswonger Invitational, Friday. Setting four new bests, the team used a slow start to motivate them to finish the day strong.

“We started off the day subpar,” head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. “We weren’t performing as well as we should have been. As the day went on though, we found our groove and got better. Some of the earlier performers did better in their later events so it was an overall good finish to the day. It was interesting to see how the athletes reacted to the earlier start of the day too.”

Anjoun Armaly competing in only his second indoor track meet of the season broke his own previously held school record in the triple jump. During the Clemson Invitational, Armaly beat the previous record by two tenths of a meter, landing in 14.29. Today, he would best that by jumping 15.03 meters or over 49 feet.

“Anjoun had a great triple jump which is over a two foot improvement on the last meet and was a huge performance for him,” Eggerth said. “Breaking the school record that he held in only his second meet of the season shows the great potential that he has the more he works on his technique.”

Three athletes saw their personal records set in the same event. Antonio Logan, Sadio Diallo and Jemir Martinez all achieved new best in the 200 meters. Logan finished in 7.01 seconds, Diallo in 7.04 and Martinez in 7.06.
