LINCOLN, NEB. - Junior Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.) ran a personal best of 48.93 to finish ninth in the 400-meter dash to highlight action for the Drake men's track and field team at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday (Feb. 4).
"He looked really good and he has been very focused training," commented Drake track and field head coach Natasha Brown. "He went out aggressive and I was pleased with his strategy."
Freshman Ian Wells (Champaign, Ill.) also competed in the 400-meter race running a time of 50.87 to finish 32nd.
Junior Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) was 25th in the 200-meter race finishing in 22.34, while freshman Brett Wright (Longmont, Colo.) was clocked in 22.67 to place 32nd.
Sophomore Isaac Twombly (Baldwin, Kan.), the school record holder in the weight throw, had a toss of 43-05.75 to finish 23rd.
Many of the Drake athletes will be in action on Saturday (Feb. 5) during the second day of competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. The meet will start at noon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
