Feb. 16, 2011-- North Central College remains atop the National Team Computer Rankings for the fourth consecutive week as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the weekly rankings on Thursday.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals amassed 199.59 points in the week four rankings to remain No. 1. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse remained second with 129.10 points while Amherst College (Mass.) moved up seven spots to third with 103.54 points. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is fourth with 92.51 points while the State University of New York-Cortland is fifth, climbing 31 spots with 77.81 points.

North Central blew away the competition at Saturday's Chicagoland Indoor Championships held at the Al B. Carius Track, winning nine of the 17 events contested. The Cardinals scored 182 1/2 points while runner-up University of Illinois-Chicago finished with 105 points.

The team has one final tune-up before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Championships, hosting the Cardinal Classic on Friday at the Al B. Carius Track with events slated to get underway at 5 p.m.
