Feb. 16, 2011-- The North Central College women's track & field squad is ranked ninth in the fourth installment of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Team Computer Rankings, released Thursday.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The Cardinals collected 56.68 points in the week four rankings and are one of three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions to appear in the Top 25. Illinois Wesleyan University is 18th with 39.53 points while Carthage College is 22nd (33.80).

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh reclaims the top spot with 187.25 unseating Wartburg College (Iowa) as the Knights slump to No. 2 with 182.72 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is third (104.67) with Williams College (Mass.) and The College of New Jersey rounding out the top five.

North Central secured its second straight Chicagoland Indoor Championship on Friday at the Al B. Carius Track, claiming five event winners. The Cardinals scored 150.33 points in the team standings with 17th-ranked University of Chicago finishing second with a tally of 109.
