Manhattan Men Recognized for Academic Success by USTFCCCA

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - One day after the Manhattan College women's cross country team was recognized for its success in the classroom by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the men's squad received the same honor.  The Jaspers, who placed three runners on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team, had a team GPA of 3.24 during the fall semester, making them one of 152 squads selected as Division I Cross Country All-Academic Teams.

Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and started at least five runners at their respective NCAA Regional Championships in order to qualify for all-academic status.  Manhattan was 30th at the NCAA Northeast Regional.  A total of seven MAAC schools were recognized on the men's side.

Mississippi Valley State boasted the highest team GPA in the nation (3.62), while Florida State was named Scholar Team of the Year.  That award goes to the All-Academic Team that has the highest overall finish at the NCAA Championships.  The Seminoles finished as national runners-up this season.
