Complete USTFCCCA Rankings

Feb. 23, 2011-- The top three in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Team Computer Rankings remained unchanged from a week ago, with the North Central College track & field squad remaining the nation's top ranked team for the fifth consecutive week.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals accumulated 184.47 points in the week five rankings to remain NCAA Division III's No. 1 ranked team. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Amherst College (Mass.) hold steady at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The Eagles tallied 119.32 points in week five while the Lord Jeffs scored 97.08. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh charged up six spots to fourth place with 82.11 points while University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is fifth with 81.28 points.

North Central cruised to the victory in the team standings at Friday's Cardinal Classic at the Al B. Carius Track, the team's final tune-up before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Championships. The Cardinals turned in several impressive performances at the 10-team meet, winning nine events and tallying six national qualifying performances.

North Central returns to the track on Friday, Feb. 25, traveling downstate to Bloomington, Ill. where the team will look to secure its 11th-straight CCIW Indoor Championship.
