Cline Leads Davidson at Indoor SoCon Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Senior Sarah Cline finished eighth in the 3000 meters to lead the Davidson Wildcat women's track and field team at the 2011 Indoor SoCon Championships Saturday afternooon at the Clemson Indoor Track.

Cline finished eighth in the race with a time of 10:23.32, and junior Erin Lupfer finished seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters, to score for the Wildcats.

Freshman Mackenzie Hicks also competed for the Wildcats in the 60 meters (8.68) and the 200 meters (29.29). Juniors Ana Rodriguez (68.14) and Brooke Senken (69.19) competed for the Wildcats in the 400 meters.

Junior Jane Gay finished 18th with a time of 2:28.23 in the 800 meters, and sophomore Jena Manilla was 25th in 2:45.88. Freshman Maggie Rickard (11:03.36), sophomore Anna Armistead (11:06.27), freshman Olivia Goolsby (11:44.08) and freshman Catherine Doyle (11:59.44) also ran in the 3000 meters. 

After the first day of competition, Appalachian State is leading with 63 points, followed by Georgia Southern (41), the College of Charleston (28) and Elon (25). Western Carolina (24), Samford (21), UNCG (20), Citadel (5), Furman (4) and Davidson (3) round out the field. Competition concludes tomorrow.
