KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head cross country coach Stan Sims and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics have announced the signing of Parker Whitlock, Vicky Winslow and Sidney Williams to a National Letter of Intent to run for the Owls beginning in the fall of 2011.

“We are very excited to bring all three athletes on as part of our program,” Coach Sims said. “Each athlete brings their own skills to an already strong and successful program.”

All three of the new signees hail from Georgia. Whitlock goes to Lovett High School in Atlanta. During his senior season, Whitlock has finished first in four of the races he has competed in. He placed first in the 5,000 meters at the GHSA Region 6-AA championship with a time of 16:52.54 and third in the GHSA Cross Country State Championships.

Winslow and Williams both join the Owls from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga. Winslow finished the 2010 cross country season with a ninth place finish in the 5,000 meters at the Region 7-AAAAA meet.  She ran a season best time of 18:41.02 in the 5,000 at the Gwinnett County Championships, finishing first.

Williams brings many accolades with her to Kennesaw State including two All-County (Gwinnett) honors, three time Nike All-American for track and both cross country and track freshman of the year in 2007-2008. She finished eighth in the 5,000 at the GHSA Cross Country Championship in 19:21.43.

“Parker was named US First Team Elite by Milesplit GATFXC, Sidney is a strong 400 and 800 meter runner who can make a strong impact in cross country and Vicky is one of the best runners coming out of Georgia so we are excited for them to bring their talent to Kennesaw State,” Coach Sims said.
