Mar. 7, 2011-- For the seventh straight week, North Central College is the top ranked squad in NCAA Division III in the final installment of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Team Computer Rankings, released Monday.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals tallied 16.94 points in the week seven rankings and is one of two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams to appear in the rankings. Augustana College is 23rd with 28.18 points.

The rest of the top five remains unchanged from a week ago. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is second with 114.87 points, Amherst College is third with 112.81 points while the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Central College (Iowa) round out the top spots with 91.75 and 84.09 points, respectively.

North Central leads the nation with 14 entrants for this weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Action is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Friday inside the Capital Center.
