Mar. 7, 2011-- The North Central College women's track & field team is sixth in the final installment of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Team Computer Rankings, released Monday.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals secured 61.96 points in the week seven rankings and is one of three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions to appear in the Top 25. Illinois Wesleyan University is fourth with 86.71 points while Carthage College is ninth after amassing 55.72 points.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh remains the nation's top ranked team, garnering 151.60 points while 2009 Indoor National Champion Wartburg College is second with 137.62 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is third, accumulating 106.06 points.

North Central has six entrants across six events for this weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Action is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Friday inside the Capital Center.
