Mar. 9, 2011-- North Central College head men's track & field coach Frank Gramarosso has been selected as the Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.

Gramarosso earns the award in his first year as the head coach after spending the previous 28 years as an assistant for the top-ranked Cardinals. He has been on staff for all seven track & field national championships (two indoor, five outdoor) won by the Cardinals and has coaching several All-Americans and individual national champions during his tenure. Gramarosso guided North Central to its 11th-consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin crown on Feb. 26, earning CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year honors. His squad leads the nation with 14 entrants for this weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

The Cardinals look to capture their second straight national title on Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Championships hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
