NEW ORLEANS- Three Kennesaw State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA Outdoor Preseason Rankings, the organization announced on Wednesday. Jerome McKinzie, Jill Arthur and Kendall Parks were all recognized for their outstanding marks in their events during the 2010 season.
McKinzie dominated the high jump in 2010, landing himself a trip to Oregon to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His 2.15 meter jump during the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Conference Championships last season earned him a 22nd place spot on the preseason list.
Joining McKinzie on the men's side, junior Kendall Parks sits in 39th on the preseason list for his efforts in the 110 meter hurdles. Similarly to his teammate, Parks earned his nationally ranking during his performance at the A-Sun Outdoor Conference Championships with a 14.03 second finish. The finish also gave him a place in the Kennesaw State record books.
Rounding out the trio is senior Jill Arthur, who ranks 41st on the triple jump list with her performance at the A-Sun Outdoor Championships. Her leap of 12.60 meters was good enough for first place and an All-Conference award. She earned a trip to the NCAA East Preliminaries where she finished 44th.
The trio competes this weekend, March 25-26 at Georgia Tech in the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
