KENNESAW, Ga. - In a weekend that saw the team competing at three different meets, the Kennesaw State women’s track and field team had two of its athletes break records Friday March 25. Having already broken several records last season, the team can now add two more to their successful outdoor campaign.

Running in the Stanford Invitational in California, Mackenzie Howe overcame her own school record in the 10,000 meters to finish in eighth against some of the top programs in the country. Her time of 34:52.16 beat the old record by thirty seconds. Howe was still able to accomplish this feat despite having to run at 1 a.m. eastern time because of the time difference

In Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Alabama Relays, Naomi Mack set new personal records on her way to setting a new school record of 4,458 points in the heptathlon. Her time of 2:22.29 was good enough to set a new personal best and give her first place in the event. She also set a personal record in the 200 meter race, running it in 25.90 seconds.

Participating in day one of the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech, the Owls finished fourth, fifth and sixth in the hammer throw. Led by sophomore Suzee Mills, she would throw a top distance of 47.75 meters. Chiquita Hawthorne was next with 45.83 meters and rounding out the trio was Jessica Lumpkin with a top throw of 42.93 meters.

The team continues today at the Yellow Jacket Invitational and will close out the weekend Sunday with the relays competing at the Alabama Relays.
