Yellow Jacket Final Results

ATLANTA - Having already had several records broken this weekend, the Kennesaw State men’s track and field team closed out competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Due to rain they were not able to complete all the events but despite the weather they were able to have a solid performance to finish out the weekend.

“Our athletes competing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational did a very nice job of showing up to compete even though it was cool and rainy,” head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. “We didn’t see any stellar performances, but they were very solid considering the conditions.”

Competing just a week after breaking the 110 meter hurdle record, Kendall Parks returned to form in the event, tying his school record time of 14.10 and earning himself another first place finish. Earlier this week, Parks was named to the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings for his efforts in the 110 hurdles during the 2010 season.

Mainly a distance runner, Piotr Witczak got a taste of a shorter race in the 800 meters on Saturday. His time of 1:53.71 was a new personal record as well as gave him a third place finish.

Racing in steeplechase for the first time this season, Andrew Greeson set a new personal record, finishing the race in 10:08.19, good enough for fourth place. He broke his previous personal best by seven seconds.

In his first meet of the outdoor season, Anjoun Armaly finished third in the long jump with a top leap of 6.86 meters. Capitalizing on his school record breaking performance in the hammer Friday, Josh McNair was at it again in the shot put. His top throw of 16.55 meters gave him his second first place finish of the season and beat his second place competitor by well over two meters.

The men’s track team is back at it next weekend as they travel to Auburn, Ala. to compete in the Tiger Track Classic, April 1-2.
