Apr. 5, 2010-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced its Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday with North Central College's Michael Spain earning Runner of the Week honors.

Spain earns the award after winning the 10,000-meter run at Friday's First Chance Invitational in an automatic qualifying time of 29:37.82. The senior's performance is currently the fastest time in NCAA Division III this season by almost 30 seconds and is the second fastest time in program history.

This is the second Runner of the Week accolade for Spain after claiming the award during the indoor season on Jan. 25.

The Cardinals tallied three provisional qualifiers on top of Spain's efforts at the First Chance Invitational, winning the meet by a comfortable 117-point margin.

North Central returns to action on Friday, competing at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships.
