Official CCIW Release

Apr. 5, 2010-- North Central College's Amanda Laesch was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Track & Field Runner of the Week on Tuesday for her performance over the weekend at the First Chance Invitational.

Laesch opened the meet on Friday by winning the 10,000-meter run in a school record and automatic qualifying time of 35:41.35. Her time is the second fastest time this season in NCAA Division III and bested the previous school record by over 21 seconds. Laesch followed up that performance by winning the 5,000-meter run the following day in a provisional qualifying effort of 17:33.05. Her 5K time is currently the 11th fastest time in Division III.

The Cardinals amassed 254 points and won nine events to open the outdoor season by winning their own invitational, outdistancing runner-up and CCIW rival Carthage College by 110 points.

North Central returns to action on Friday, competing at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Chicago.
