LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman Herman Kirkland was named the PSAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Kirkland, the PSAC Indoor Freshman of the Year and the PSAC's all-time indoor record holder in the long jump, achieved a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10.56 seconds in the 100-meter dash on Saturday as the Shippensburg men's outdoor track and field squad finished second at the Lafayette Seven-Way meet.

Kirkland also ran on the victorious 4x100-meter relay squad. His 100-meter time leads the PSAC and ranks 15th in Division II.

Shippensburg will compete this weekend at the Millersville Metrics from the Biemesderfer.
