ACU men still No. 1 in nation


NEW ORLEANS – The ACU men's track and field team is ranked No. 1 in the country for the second straight week in rankings released Tuesday by the United States rack and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

The Wildcats were No. 1 in the country in the first poll two weeks and held on to that position in the second poll of the season.  Adams State (Colo.) is No. 2 in the country, followed by Lincoln (Mo.) at No. 3, Central Missouri at No. 4 and St. Augustine's (N.C.) at No. 5.

ACU's Lone Star Conference rivals Angelo State (No. 7) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (No. 17) are also ranked in the nation's top 25.

On the women's side, Lincoln (Mo.) is ranked No. 1 in the country, followed by Grand Valley State (Mich.) at No. 2, Adams State at No. 3, Johnson C. Smith (N.C.) at No. 4 and UC-San Diego at No. 5.

ACU moved up from No. 7 in the country in last week's poll to No. 6 in the  nation in this week's poll.  The only other LSC women's team ranked in this week's poll is Angelo State, which checks in at No. 20.
