JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Finishing the second day of competition, the Kennesaw State women’s track and field team landed in third at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Conference Championship, Saturday. Sitting in first after day one, reigning champion Jacksonville rose from third to take the crown once again.

“I am extremely proud of the job that all the kids did,” Eggerth said. “Although the men won the championship, the women did very well also. They are working just as hard. Our team had a great weekend and is reflected in all the records that were broken whether it was personal, school or conference.”

After competing in the first day of the heptathlon, Naomi Mack cemented herself as the top female combined events athlete in the conference with her second consecutive first place finish. En route to breaking the school record for points, Mack finished first in the 100 meter hurdles, 800 and shot put. Her final point total also set a new facility record for points as well.

Ending her A-Sun Conference career with a bang, Mackenzie Howe once again blew away the competition in the 5,000 meters. Yesterday, Howe set a new A-Sun record in the 10,000 and today, she finished first in a time of 16:55.64, beating her second place competitor by 16 seconds.

On the field side, sophomore Suzee Mills earned an All-Conference award for her first place finish in the javelin. Her longest throw would be 38.42 meters and would edge out competition from Belmont’s thrower by six tenths of a meter. Mills also received a medal for her third place finish in the discus earlier in the day.

Cynthia Davis would earn herself a medal for just one of her many strong performances on Saturday. In the 100 meters, Davis crossed the line in 11.85 seconds, good enough for third place.

For the final women’s event of the meet, the quartet of Brittany Robinson, Morgan Williams, Tai Dorsett and Victoria Jackson competed in the 4x400 relay. Originally finishing the race in fourth, an ETSU disqualification gave Kennesaw State another one of their many medals for the day. The team would finish the race in 3:52.35.
