TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men’s track and field team continues their quest to Nationals this weekend when they travel to Tallahassee for the Florida State Twilight Meet, May 6-7. Just a few weeks removed from winning conference, the squad looks to this weekend to get a few more athletes to NCAA Preliminaries in Bloomington, Ind. at the end of May.

“The Florida State Twilight is typically a fairly small meet, but always has some top end competition,” head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. “We’re bringing a small crew of athletes that already have or are trying to qualify for the NCAA Preliminaries.  Our goal is to get some more qualifiers and have to good competitive opportunity for those already qualified.”

Trying to earn him a spot at NCAA Prelims, Anjoun Armaly gets a shot at the long jump on Saturday. Armaly blew away the competition at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Conference Championship a few weeks ago, earning a gold in triple jump and silver in long jump. He earned his best long jump distance at conference as well with a 7.36 meter leap.

Joining Armaly in field events is Josh McNair, competing in three events. At the A-Sun Conference meet, McNair raked in three All-Conference awards with a first place finish in discus, second in shot put and third in hammer. This weekend, he gets a shot at qualifying in all three competitions. Last season, McNair made it to the NCAA East Prelims where he finished 32nd.

The tandem of Jerome McKinzie and Cameron Zeman will tackle the high jump this weekend. McKinzie finished first with a 2.05 meter jump with Zeman not far behind in third. Last year, McKinzie rode his success in high jump all the way to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships where he would finish in 22nd.

Competition begins Friday with the men’s javelin at 6:30 p.m. and concludes Saturday night with the women’s 4x400 relay at 9:10 p.m.
