ACU to run at home Thursday

ABILENE – The ACU track and field teams will compete at home for the first and only time this season Thursday as the Wildcats host the ACU Twilight Meet at Elmer Gray Stadium.

Thursday's meet represents the last chance for NCAA Division II and III athletes to qualify for national championship meets.  The qualifying field for the NCAA Division II national meet will be revealed on May 17.

The meet will get started at noon with field event finals, followed by running event finals starting at 5:30 p.m.

Athletes to watch in the meet include ACU senior Ramon Sparks, ACU thrower Nick Jones, ACU distance standout Amos Sang, ACU hurdler Kevin Johnson, ACU jumper Amanda Ouedraogo, ACU throwers Paige Newby and Jessica Sloss, and former ACU national champions Marvin Bien-Aime (100 meters) and Angie Aguilar (pole vault).

Also scheduled to compete at the meet is Katy Cinco Ranch High School standout Traveon Rogers, who will be competing for the USA World Juniors Team.  The TCU commit will run in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, as well as the 4x100 relay.

He'll be joined on the USA World Juniors 4x100 relay team by Oliver Bradwell, Greg Allen and Willie Rone.
