CLEMSON, S.C. - Traveling to their final meet of the season, the Kennesaw State men’s track and field team takes a short trip up I-85 to visit Clemson for the second time this track season, Friday and Saturday. The squad mainly will use this meet as a final effort to make the NCAA Preliminaries which are in Bloomington, Ind. in two weeks.

“This is the last meet of the year so the team is ready to go all in,” head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. “For some of our athletes, this is their final chance to qualify for the NCAA Preliminaries and others it’s a chance to finish the season with a bang. It will be great to see how all the athletes do in their last meet.”

Reigning Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week Kendall Parks will get one more shot at boosting his times before the inevitable trip to prelims at the end of May. Parks earned himself a new school record last weekend at the Florida State Twilight Meet. His time of 13.85 helped him to a second place finish and helped to give him the A-Sun weekly award. He currently sits in 21st nationally for his 13.76 time at the A-Sun Outdoor Championship last month.

Racing in his final meet as an Owl, Piotr Witczak gets a last chance at making the track postseason in the 1,500 meter race on Friday. Earlier in the year, Witczak etched his name into Kennesaw State history by breaking the school record in the race with a 3:50.61 time at the Auburn Tiger Classic. He will also get a shot in the 800 meter race on Saturday.

Having already secured a spot in this month’s prelims, Gianni Catalano has a chance to move up the rankings in the 800 meter seeded race on Friday. Last weekend, Catalano helped his chances greatly by finishing the race in 1:49.99 and currently ranks 28th regionally.

Action begins on Friday with the 110 meter hurdles and discus throw on the field side. The weekend concludes on Saturday with 4x400 meter relay at 4:40 p.m.
