MACON, Ga.- Finishing up the regular season part of the track season this past weekend, Patricia Damron earned herself an Atlantic Sun Woman's Field Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced on Wednesday. Setting a new personal record in the javelin, Damron won her very first conference accolade and gave the Owls the honor for the second straight week.

Competing at the Clemson Final Qualifier on Friday and Saturday, Damron closed out her season with the javelin. Her third throw was enough for her to nab the athlete of the week honors, throwing 37.01 meters or 121 feet and 5.08 inches. The throw was good enough for seventh place and a personal best for Damron.

"This is really exciting for me since I wasn't expecting it," Damron said. "Of course I wanted to throw well this weekend, but I wasn't expecting it since I have been stuck at 117' for the past two years. I went in relaxed and just focused on the areas the coaches were telling me to improve on. Definitely a great way to end the season and I'm finally in the 120 club."
