USTFCCCA Regional Award Winners

May 24, 2011--
North Central College women's track & field assistant coach Mahesh Narayanan has been named the 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest Assistant Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Monday.

Narayanan, the primary coach for the team's distance and mid-distance runners, helped the Cardinals earn eight provisional qualifying marks during the outdoor season with four qualifiers making the NCAA Division III National Championships. Narayanan's distance crew additionally tallied 60 of the team's 236 points en route to the 2011 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin team championship.

This is not the first honor for Narayanan by the USTFCCCA, earning Midwest Region Head Coach of the Year honors for cross country during the 2006 season.

The 19th-ranked Cardinals will send nine entries spread across six events to the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on May 28-30 in Delaware, Ohio.
