BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The NCAA East Regional Outdoor Track & Field Championships got underway at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex on Thursday afternoon, and Manhattan College's Malin Olsson (Malmo, Sweden) competed in the women's long jump.
Seeded 33rd entering the meet, Olsson placed 19th with a leap of 5.99 meters (19 feet, eight inches). She missed the cutoff for the event's finals (top 16) by just three centimeters, and was a mere five centimeters shy of 12th place, which would've qualified her for the NCAA National Championships.
One other Manhattan athlete qualified for the NCAA Regionals. Colin Quirke (Los Gatos, Calif.) will compete in the men's discus throw on Saturday night.
