DELAWARE, Ohio (May 27, 2011) -
 The North Central College women's track and field team got a personal-best performance from Sheila Walsh in the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday, as the senior picked up one of the top qualifying times for Saturday's final in the 400-meter dash.

Walsh was clocked in 55.52 seconds, a time which eclipsed her previous best of 56.23 and brings her to within a half-second of the North Central record in the event, to post the second-fastest time in Friday's preliminaries. Wartburg College's Nevada Morrison is the top qualifier with a time of 55.12. Also competing in the 400 prelims was senior Lauren Brightmore, who finished in 57.21 to place 15th in the field.

The Cardinals were also represented in the trials of the 800-meter run by Krista Cota, who finished 19th in 2:15.45, and in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase by Alicia Zimmerman, who finished 20th in 11:09.95.

North Central concludes competition in the championships on Saturday, competing in the javelin throw, 400-meter dash final, 5,000-meter run and 4x400-meter relay. Action is set to begin at noon Eastern time.
