KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men's and women's cross country team and Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Operations Andy Eggerth unveiled their schedule for 2011 which includes meets in four different states.

Kicking off the season in September, the Owls will travel to Nashville for a meet hosted by conference foe Belmont. The contest will serve as a preview to the Atlantic Sun Championship at the end of October which will also be hosted by Belmont.

Up next is a road trip to Auburn to compete in the Auburn Invitational. The last time the Owls competed in this meet was 2008. They next travel up 75 to compete in the Georgia State Invite. This is the first time Kennesaw State will participate in a meet hosted by the cross town rival.

Traveling to Kentucky for the second straight year, the Owls will race in the Louisville Classic. Last season the contest featured schools from all over the country including Miami, Georgia, Missouri and Vanderbilt.

Racing in their final meet before the conference championship, both squads head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama. Last season the men’s team finished fifth while the women came in ninth.

Closing out the regular season again in Nashville, the men will look for their third straight A-Sun Championship while the women seek their first conference championship. Mackenzie Howe finished first on the women’s side while being named to All-Conference and Nabil Hamid, Jaakko Nieminen and Piotr Witczak earned All-Conference for the men.

“I believe we’ve put together a great schedule to set our kids up for excellence," Eggerth said. “We will open at Belmont so the kids can see some conference competition right out of the gate, as well as getting to preview the course that the A-Sun championship will be held on.  From there we compete against some SEC competition at Auburn.  After that, we get to battle in-state rival, Georgia State.  The Louisville XC Classic provides great competition, but also allows the athletes to race the course that the 2012 NCAA Championships will be held on.  Alabama of course provides great competition in depth and quality, and then we’re back to Belmont to try to repeat as Conference Champions on the men’s side and show how much our women have improved in one year.”
