EUGENE, Ore. – Cornell was well represented at the USATF Outdoor Championships at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. on Thursday as several past and present Big Red stars took the stage.

Morgan Uceny '07, who has proven to be among the best middle distance runners in the world over the past few years, looked terrific in advancing to the finals of the women's 1500 with a run of 4:08.68, as she placed second in her heat. Uceny will race for a spot in the World Championships on Saturday. If she finishes among the top three, she will earn her first spot on a United States national team at the World Championships or Olympics.

Adrien Dannemiller '11 completed his terrific Cornell career with an 18th place finish in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 8:54.65. Dannemiller left East Hill with the second best time in school history in the event.

Rising-senior Nick Huber made his first appearance at the USATF meet a solid one. He was busy on day one of the decathlon and is currently in 13th of 16 competitors, tallying 3,756 points behind efforts of 11.32 in the 100, 21-4 1/2 in the long jump, 44-6 3/4 in the shot put, 6-5 in the high jump and 50.43 in the 400.

Cornell is not done at these championships as rising-sophomore Steven Bell will compete in the long jump on Friday and will team up with classmate Dan Scott in the triple jump on Saturday. Both are competing in the USATF Junior Championships, which are being held concurrently at Hayward Field.

Gary Jones '11 in the triple jump and Kim Standridge '11 in the 800 had hit the B-standard to qualify for the meet but just missed out on spots in the actual field when the start lists were announced earlier in the week.
