MACON, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women’s cross country team was picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches’ poll, the Atlantic Sun conference announced Wednesday. Last season, the Owls finished ninth at the A-Sun Conference Championship as a team with Howe winning overall A-Sun champion.

“We are looking forward to surprising some people this season," Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Andy Eggerth said. "Although we had a down year last season, we are looking to make significant improvements as we have a very young and developmental team. We will get incrementally better as the season progresses."

Competing as a young team, the squad will have their work cut out for them after losing Howe. Returning for the Owls are sophomores Heather Morris and Haley Carson. Morris was a standout freshman last season making it to competition at the NCAA South Region. Joining the duo are nine new teammates, one sophomore transfer and eight freshmen.

Kicking off their season, the ladies will travel to Nashville for the Belmont Invitational on Sept. 2nd. The course serves as a preview for the A-Sun Conference Championship which will also be held there at the end of October.
