Men's Track & Field Earns 2011 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

8/10/2011 5:38:00 PM | Men's Track & Field

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Davidson men's track and field team ranked among the best in the nation academically, as it was recognized as one of 90 teams to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors for the 2011 season Wednesday.

The Wildcats, who have been guided by head coach Gary Andrew for the past 25 seasons, have earned the distinction following each season in which records are available since 2003. Davidson posted a team grade point average of 3.00 to earn the distinction.

The men's track & field teams at Brigham Young University and Florida State University were named as Scholar Teams of the Year in Division I. The squads earned the distinction as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championships, respectively.

Davidson was joined on the list by three other Southern Conference members: Wofford, UNCG and Chattanooga. The Wildcats placed fourth at both the indoor and outdoor SoCon Championship meets in 2011.
