NEW ORLEANS- The Kennesaw State women's track and field team was one of 164 teams to be named All-Academic for the 2010-2011 competitive year, the USTFCCCA announced Thursday. This is the first time the women's team has won the honor since joining the ranks of Division I in 2005.

"I constantly preach to our team the importance of academics," director of cross country and track and field Andy Eggerth said. "I am delighted to see that they have listened to our advice and received national recognition for their accomplishments."

The title of Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year award went to Texas while the outdoor track honors went to Oklahoma. Kennesaw State finished with a 3.18 gpa as a team overall. They were one of four teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference to given the honor. Jacksonville, Lipscomb and ETSU all also received the award.

Kennesaw State finished third during both the indoor and outdoor season this year. 11 athletes were awarded All-Conference by the A-Sun for their top three finishes at the A-Sun Outdoor meet in April. Senior distance runner Mackenzie Howe was the lone female Owl to make it to the track postseason, competing in the East Preliminary Round in the 10,000 meters.
