ITHACA, N.Y. – Morgan Uceny '07 advanced to the final in the 1500 with a fifth-place finish in the semifinals at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea on Tuesday morning.

Uceny ran in the top half of the 13-woman field throughout her semifinal run Tuesday morning and finished fifth with a time of 4:09.03, just half a second behind the heat's winner. Running on the inside of the group along the rail for the first two laps, she worked her way to the outside and out of any potential trouble before the real racing began, moving into the top five with ease in the last lap

The top five in the heat ran their last 400 meters in just 59 seconds.

The final takes place at 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, and Morgan will be part of a 12-racer field.
