Women's Cross Country Place Seventh in Auburn

Heather Morris leads Owls for second straight week

AUBURN, Ala. – The Kennesaw State women’s cross country team traveled to Auburn on Friday to compete in the Auburn Invitational 4K race at Conway Acres Farm.  The team finished tied for seventh with a team point total of 186.

The Owls competed against 13 teams from around the South East and for the second week in a row, sophomore Heather Morris has been the top runner for the Black and Gold finishing in 20th place with a time of 15:38.

"Most of the women ran very well tonight," head coach Stan Sims said. " Heather ran a great race and we without a doubt improved on our performance from last week."

Freshman Vicky Winslow posted a time of 16:07 for 32nd place while freshman Sydney Williams placed 34th with a race time of 16:15.

Sophomore Trice Sweet was the next Owl to cross the finish line with a time of 16:44 to finish 44th, as freshman Alla Yoonis placed 60th with a time of 17:19.

Freshman Ashley Wallace placed 73rd with a time of 17:42, sophomore Amy Rice at 17:46, freshman Lauren Scott at 17:47, and senior Brittany Robinson rounded out the Owls runners with a time of 19:21.

Georgia State captured the team title with a team point total of 72, finishing just two points ahead of Samford (74) and three ahead of host school Auburn (75). UAB finished in fourth (86), with Florida State (125) finishing fifth and Alabama State (171) in sixth.

The Black and Gold will be back in action again next week as they travel down I-75 to compete in the Georgia State Invite.
