AUBURN, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men’s cross country team competed in the Auburn Invitational 6K on Friday and finished second behind host school Auburn with a team point total of 59 at the Conway Acres Farm Track.
The Owls placed runners in second and third as juniors
Nabil Hamid and
Ryan Burruss finished almost synchronized with a time of 19:12. The third place finish by Burruss marks the first time he has received an award during his collegiate career.
"The men ran a very strong race tonight," head coach Stan Sims said. "Nabil and Ryan each ran great and Cole (Jackob) also had a very good race. I was very pleased with our effort."
Sophomore
Cole Jackob was the next Owl to cross the finish line placing 15th with a time of 20:33, while team mate, freshman
Josh Jenkins finished just behind in 21st with a time of 20:47.
The Black and Gold placed consecutive runners in 27th, 28th and 29th as sophomore
Zachary Tupper and freshman
Parker Whitlock each ran a time of 21:09, while freshman
Brett Carter posted a time of 21:19.
The Owls finished just behind the Tigers (30) and just ahead of instate rivals Georgia State (79). Troy finished fourth with SE Louisiana and West Georgia bring up the rear.
The team will be in action again next week as they travel just down I-75 to compete in the Georgia State Invite in Hampton, Ga.
