ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's and women's cross country teams continue their season with a tri-meet with host Colgate and Syracuse in Hamilton on Saturday. The race is set to start at 11:30 a.m.

The meet promises to be a competitive early-season test and will be the first race this season at 6,000 meters for each of the three schools. The Syracuse women are the two-time defending NCAA Northeast Regional team champions and are currently No. 15 in the latest USTFCCCA national poll. Colgate is the defending Patriot League team champions and is led by NCAA qualifier Elise DeRoo.

The Syracuse women are currently ranked No. 2 in the Northeast Region by the USTFCCCA, while the Big Red women moved up to fifth this week in the latest rankings. The Colgate women are unranked.

Last year at the same tri-meet, the Cornell women placed second with 48 points to Syracuse's 23 points and ahead of Colgate's 50. The team was led by then-sophomore Katie Kellner, who placed seventh overall in 21:55 for the challenging 6K layout.

The Big Red is coming off a season-opening sweep of Army and Binghamton last week at the Moakley Course where Kellner and classmate Genna Hartung finished first and second to lead Cornell to a perfect score of 15 points to open the season with a win.

On the men's side, Cornell comes into Saturday's meet ranked No .13 in the region, while Syracuse is the No. 2 team in the region and No. 14 in the country. The Big Red all-time against the Orange are deadlocked at 29-29-1 and will be looking to break the tie with a win.

Last weekend, the Cornell men beat Army and Binghamton convincingly, scoring 20 points to Army's 39 and Binghamton's 77. Max Groves placed first overall on the Moakley Course with Chandler Kemp finishing less than four seconds behind. Cornell took four of the top five places and eight of the top 13.
