Women's Cross Country Finish Fourth at Georgia State Invitational

Heather Morris leads Owls in third consecutive race

HAMPTON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s cross country team finished fourth in the Georgia State Invitational with a team point total of 135 as Heather Morris and Vicky Winslow led the team with respective 16th and 17th place finishes.

For the third consecutive week, Morris led all Kennesaw State runners as the sophomore finished 16th in the 6K run with a time of 23:44, while freshman Winslow finished jus behind her teammate in 17th with a time of 23:48.

“The women ran a solid race today and their finish was very strong,” head coach Stan Sims said. “Heather had a very good race today and made a great transition from a 5K race to a 6K.“

Freshman Sydney Williams ran her best race of the season finishing 32nd with a time of 24:35, while freshman Patrice Sweet finished 55th turning in a time of 25:27.

Freshmen Alla Yoonis placed 62nd posting a time of 25:29 and Amy Rice finished 74th with a time of 27:01 while freshmen Brittany Robinson and Olivia Eurek round out the runners for the Black and Gold finishing 83rd and 84th crossing the finish line at 28:41.

The team will be back in action in two weeks with the Louisville Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky.
