WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 24, 2011)-- Four runners placed in the top 10 as the North Central College women's cross country team tallied a runner-up finish at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday at Saint James Farm.

The Cardinals accumulated 39 points in the team standings to finish second at the five-team invite. Washington University in Saint Louis, ranked second nationally, won the team title after scoring 25 points while host Wheaton was a distant third with a team score of 89.

Kala Bingham paced the Cardinals, finishing third after traversing the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 4.14 seconds while Alicia Zimmerman was right behind in fourth in 22:04.96. Krista Cota was sixth in 22:08.24 while Amanda Marek was the fourth Cardinal in the top 10, placing 10th in 22:46.93.

Maggie Lapinski was 19th in 23:31.40 while Amy Schwent (21st, 23:35.58) and Jacki McKown (33rd, 24:20.11) rounded out the Cardinals varsity contingent.

North Central returns to Saint James Farm next Friday, hosting the Cardinal Classic with races slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
