Sept. 27, 2011-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its weekly award winners on Tuesday with North Central College's Kala Bingham earning Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolades.

Bingham claims the honor after placing third at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday, finishing the 6,000-meter course at Saint James Farm in Warrenville, Ill. in a time of 22 minutes, 4.14 seconds. Her performance helped the Cardinals to a runner-up finish in the team standings at the five-team event, scoring 39 points to finish behind only second-ranked Washington University in Saint Louis.

The senior is the second North Central student-athlete to capture CCIW Runner of the Week accolades this season as Alicia Zimmerman earned the honor on Sept. 22.

The Cardinals return to Saint James Farm on Friday, hosting the Cardinal Classic with races slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
