ITHACA, N.Y. – Morgan Uceny '07 won the final 1500 of the season-long Diamond League series in Brussels on Friday, running the fastest time in the world this year. Uceny crossed the line in 4:00.06 -- a new personal best – to also claim the Diamond League's overall 1500 championship for 2011.

After the bad luck fall at the World Championships 1500 final, Uceny bounced back on the biggest stage in the track and field world to win her title.

The field of 20 was still together after a fast first lap and a slow second lap, but Uceny waited patiently in the top group and avoided any mishaps as the field crossed 1100 meters in just under three minutes. With 400 meters to go, she Uceny in ninth and looked fantastic in passing some of the best middle distance runners in the world in the last lap. Moving up well with 300 meters to go, Uceny pounced with 200 to go and took the lead with 150 left, extending her lead to win convincingly.
