SAN ANGELO
– Three days removed from a pair of grueling 10 and 6K races at Midwestern State, select members of the Abilene Christian men's and women's cross country teams got in one final tempo run Tuesday afternoon at Red Arroyo Park for the Angelo State Blue and Gold Classic.

Both squads treated the meet as a workout rather than a race since the Lone Star Conference Championships will take place there in ten days. Head coach Chris Woods also did not enter recent winners Will Pike, Alyse Goldsmith and Chloe Susset, nor a few injured runners on the men's side.

ACU's men's team placed fourth out of seven schools and was led by freshman Fabian Wessel-Terhan, who finished the 8K course with a seventh-place time of 28:33.89.  Erik Forrister (28:46.88) recorded his second straight top-10 finish, coming in ninth, while Marshall Holland (29:1.94) placed 14th.

The Wildcats' women's team finished seventh of nine teams and were paced by newcomer Mariah Welty-Kile, who in her first race as an ACU student-athlete, finished 15th overall in 19:58.79.

The ACU cross country teams will be back at Red Arroyo Park on Saturday, Oct. 22, for the Lone Star Conference Championships.
