KENNESAW, Ga. – In their final tune-up before competing in the Atlantic Sun Championship, the Kennesaw State men’s and women’s cross country teams will participate in the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday.

Hosted by the University of Alabama, the race will be held on campus at the Harry Pritchett Running Park, which will serve as the venue for 22 men’s teams and 25 women’s teams. Of the 47 teams, 26 different schools will be in attendance at the meet including 17 that are ranked in the USTFCCCA Regional Polls.

Last time out at the Louisville Classic the men finished in 19th place with a total team time of 2:07:38.10 to top all competing A-Sun schools. Junior Nabil Hamid defeated a large portion of a talented field to place 27th out of 240 with a time of 24:37.71.

“This is the second big test of the season following the Louisville Classic,” head coach Stan Sims said. “This is our last training race of the season as we are just two weeks out from the A-Sun Championship so we are expecting a great race from the men.”

On the women’s side of things, Vicky Winslow led the Black and Gold as the freshman finished 33rd out of 258 in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:52.85. The team as a whole finished 27th with a total team time of 1:40:54.63.

“The women are all back and healthy this week,” Sims said. “With some of our top performers returning to action we should see a strong performance out of them with Heather Morris and Winslow leading the way.”

The men’s 8k race is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. E.T. with the women’s 5k race following at 10:30 a.m. E.T. For updates on the Classic follow the team on Twitter @KSUTrackFieldXC.
