ABILENE – The Lone Star Conference Friday announced that Will Pike was selected as its Cross Country of the Week. The junior was honored for his 10K victory last Saturday at the Midwestern State Carnival, becoming the first Wildcat recognized this season with a weekly laurel.
Pike finished ahead of the 50-man field by 7.8 seconds with a conference and season best time of 34:33.5 in winning his first collegiate cross country race. His teammate
Erik Forrister placed 10th as ACU went on to earn runner-up honors with 63 points.
Pike has finished first for the Wildcats in three of four meets this season and placed second overall (26:35) at the 8K Naimadu Classic on Sept. 17.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 22 for the running of the Lone Star Conference Championships in San Angelo, Texas. ACU men have won the last 20 conference team titles.
