SAN ANGELO – Chloe Susset and Alyse Goldsmith were Abilene Christian's top finishers at Saturday's mornings running of the Lone Star Conference Championships hosted by Angelo State at Red Arroyo Park.

Susset was the conference runner-up with a 6K time of 21:51 and Goldsmith received the bronze medal with her mark of 22:09. Midwestern State's Brissia Montalvo was the first to finish, however, in 21:40, leading the Mustangs to the team title with 43 points.

West Texas A&M placed third with 87 points while the host Rambelles edged ACU for third place, 103 to 106, as the Wildcats claimed only one additional top-20 runner in Ayesha Rumble (18th, 23:35).

ACU's men's streak of 20 consecutive championships ended today as well, with Eastern New Mexico placing five runners among the top ten, including winner Isaiah Samoei who finished the 8K in 24:25.

The Greyhounds netted 28 points in winning the team title. ACU was second with 68 and A&M-Commerce was a distant third with 99.

Freshman Fabian Wessel-Terharn paced the Wildcats with a fifth-place time of 25:26. Spenser Lynn (11th, 26:01), Erik Forrister (16th, 26:25), Will Pike (17th, 26:30) and Marshall Holland (19th, 26:33) all finished among the top 20 in the 76-man field.

The Wildcats return to action in two weeks for the NCAA regional championships hosted by Midwestern State. ACU's men and women's teams placed second and third, respectively, on the Wichita Falls 10K/6K courses earlier this season.
