Men's Cross Country Finishes Seventh in NCAA South Regional

Hamid advances to NCAA Nationals with sixth place finish

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After running a 10K (6 miles) in 31:10.0, Nabil Hamid of the Kennesaw State cross country team advances onto the NCAA Nationals after a sixth place finish out of 159 competitors at the NCAA South Regional.

Hamid and the rest of the team competed at the Harry Pritchett Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of Alabama, as the squad placed 7th out of 24 teams, missing out on Nationals as a team by two positions.  The team ran a total time of 2:43:36.10 and posted an average 10K of 32:43.22, placing two individuals in the top-20.

Crossing the finish line after Hamid was Ryan Burruss, as the junior finished 20th with a time of 31:47.6, while senior Jaakko Nieminen ran a time of 33:10.9 to finish 58th.  In his final outdoor cross country meet, senior Steven Murray placed 77th with a time of 33:29.4, while sophomore Zachary Tupper rounded out the scoring for the Owls with a 103rd place finish and a time of 33:58.2.

Freshman Josh Jenkins finished 104th with a time of 33:59.2 in his first collegiate 8K, while sophomore Cole Jackob placed 150th running a time of 36:06.1.

As a team this will conclude the season for the Owls. Junior, Hamid will continue is post season run as he will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., Nov. 21, to compete in the NCAA Championship. For updates on Hamid and the cross country program, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUTrack&FieldXC.
