Roman Ewald Named MAAC Performer of the Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Senior Roman Ewald (Olching, Germany) of the Manhattan College men's track & field team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Performer of the Week on Tuesday.  Ewald qualified for the IC4A Championships in two different events at the Manhattan College Opener last Thursday.

Ewald finished second in the shot put with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 16.10 meters (52 feet, 10 inches).  He then won the weight throw (17.35 m, 56'11¼) by more than two meters, bettering the IC4A qualifying standard in that event, as well.  This marks the third straight year in which Ewald has qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championships, but the first time he's done it in both events.

The Jaspers return to action this weekend at the Brother Jasper Invitational from Draddy Gymnasium.  The two-day meet gets underway at 11 a.m. on Friday and continues at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
